ICCP: A Mission Oriented program.

Before completing the agreement below please take a moment to familiarize yourself with the following overview of the J-1 visa programs we sponsor.

Since 1911 the International YMCA programs such as ICCP (International Camp Counselor Program) have helped camps internationalize their programs while providing leadership opportunities and a cultural exchange experience to young people from around the world who serve as staff at day and resident camps throughout the U.S.

Regular ICCP Program

  • Camp Counselor: Young adults between ages 18-30 work during the summer months (May-August) in camping programs. Camp counselors work with children and adults providing leadership and delivering programs.
  • Summer/Winter Work and Travel: International university students work in support staff positions and experience camp life during their official school break. ICCP Work & Travel participants work in camps, YMCAs, non-profit organizations, conference centers in various non-program positions (i.e. food service, maintenance, front desk, member service, etc).
  • Direct Placement/Returning Staff Program

Allows the camp host site to identify its own camp staff and/or bring back former international staff (whether originally sponsored by the International YMCA or another organization). International YMCA overseas partners are available to provide in-country support if needed such as face to face interview, assistance in securing embassy appointment, etc.

YMCA Intern/Trainee Program

Provides training opportunities to foreign nationals in various fields up to 12-18 months. International Interns & Trainees help YMCAs, year-round camps and conference centers internationalize their programs.
